Tamar Braxton has officially left this season of Dancing With The Stars, unfortunately due to “serious health issues.”
“We can confirm that Tamar Braxton asked to withdraw from the competition due to medical issues,” Braxton’s rep confirmed to ET last night (Wednesday, November 11) in a statement. “Our pro and celebrity dancers’ health is paramount. We wish her all the best and hope she recovers quickly.”
The health issues were much more serious than originally thought, confirming that the singer has blood clots in her lungs. Braxton was rushed to hospital on Monday night.
The singer recently shared her news on Instagram, saying: “With a heavy heart I regret to inform you that my season of #dwts has to come to an end along with the rest of my tour dates with @musicbykem.”
The announcement came alongside a photo of Braxton lying in a hospital bed with Val Chmerkovskiy, her professional partner on the show.
“After yesterday’s final #dwts performance I went back to the hospital (after the doctors didn’t want me to leave in the first place) only to find out that I don’t have pneumonia but something way more serious and that is having several P.E.’s (blood clots in both sides of my lungs).
“As you all know I will be the first to always encourage anyone to push through any obstacle that comes along one’s way. But in this case, my health is my current obstacle.”
Braxton is not the first contestant to leave the show due to health issues, with Kim Zolciak forced to withdraw from the competition in September with a blood clot that “caused a mini-stroke.”
Best wishes for a quick recovery for Tamar Braxton.
