This past weekend (November 13-15) iStandard hosted their annual event in New York City dedicated to music producers.

Presented by AKAI with sponsors such as Ableton and Monster Energy, Beat Camp featured a blend of workshops, panels and classroom discussions with a focus on producer branding/management, A&R meeting simulations, networking and relationships, songwriter and producer synergy, sampling and live mixing sessions. Technology brands were also on hand, discussing their latest gear and offerings.

Following a day of listening to a diverse mix of panelists, attendees were able to catch ‘Behind The Rhymes’ interview sessions with Just Blaze, Lee On The Beats, Buda Da Future and Grandz, to name a few.

Panelists ranged from music marketers to top notch producers and composers, including Erik Mendelson, Ben Casey, !llmind, Antman Wonder, Dove Clark, The Audible Doctor and Brady Watt, to name a few. They focused on topics such as music licensing, copyright education, sampling and branding.

The event also featured one-on-one beat critiques as part of the producer showcase contest, as judged by Buda & Grandz, Rockwilder, Antman Wonder and Rsonist. The contest featured 24 producers submitting 100 beats, judged over three rounds.

iStandard began its journey as an influential organization in the music production industry back in 2005, with an aim to help educate up-and-coming music producers on the music industry. Event organizers will continue taking Beat Camp on tour, with stops up next in Pittsburgh, Atlanta and San Francisco.
