Derek Jeter is currently being sued by Frigo, an underwear brand, after he reportedly backed out of an endorsement deal involving 50 Cent. His reasoning? According to The New York Post, it’s that 50 Cent is just “too urban.”
The CEO of RevolutionWear, the company that houses Frigo, they lost $30 million when Jeter decided to cancel his commitment, and in the lawsuit they’ve filed, they’re seeking $4.7 million in damages.
Naturally, Fif took to Instagram to express his disappointment with the news.
Carmelo Anthony and Timbaland were also a part of the endorsement deal in question. It’s worth posing the question: is “too urban” code for something racially motivated? Surely, TMZ cameras are seeking out Jeter at this very moment looking for that answer.
