According to a Newsday report, Nicki Minaj’s brother, Jelani Maraj, has been charged with raping a 12-year old girl.
Jelani Maraj, 37, of Baldwin, NY, was arraigned yesterday on first-degree rape and course of sexual conduct against a child in court. Maraj is married to his long-time girlfriend Jacqueline Robinson; they were married at a lavish ceremony this past August.
Nicki and Jelani appear to be close. She made fashion blog headlines when she attended Maraj’s August wedding ceremony in a flashy Alexander McQueen gown, and sent a message to her kin on Instagram in commemoration of the day: “Jelani, I love u more than you’ll ever comprehend.” Minaj also name-drops him regularly on her records, including on her most recent album, The Pinkprint, on the LP’s first track.
Maraj was released on $100,000 bail.
