On Saturday, a man stabbed three people at an East London Tube station before being shot by authorities with a stun gun and arrested. This stabbing will be treated as a terror attack following the theme of violence that has been circulating around the Europe the past few months. The reason behind this attack being dubbed a terror attack is that the attacker allegedly yelled
“This is for Syria!”
as he stabbed his first victim.
According to an eyewitness account by The Guardian and other English newspapers, the attack was in retaliation to the airstrike of Islamist militants in Syria. He is even reported to have said, “This is what happens when you f*** with mother Syria. All your blood will be spilled.” Police have declined to comment about these reports but have come out and said that this will be treated as a “terrorist incident” in a statement by Richard Walton, leader of the Counter Terrorism Command at London’s Metropolitan Police Department.
There has been no release of information regarding the attacker’s identity and although the end of the incident was captured on camera, it is quite difficult to make out the appearance of the assailant. The United Kingdom has however been receiving more and more stepped up threats from ISIS due to the recent addition of British fighter planes to the airstrike of Middle Eastern countries suspected of housing ISIS militants. European intelligence believe that this could be the start of a follow up attack to the Paris incident last month.
In proper online fashion, the events of this attack were documented visually and posted on YouTube and Twitter shortly after it happened. The videos show a man by the ticket area being subdued by police trying to get him to relinquish his weapon. The police then tasered the man and took him into custody. In one of the videos, you can hear a man from the crowd shouting,
“You ain’t no Muslim, bruv! You’re no Muslim, bruv! You ain’t no Muslim!”
,showing that even the Muslim community is against these acts of senseless violence that are happening around the globe.
Fortunately, the three victims sustained all injuries and are now in recovery. there are no reports of anyone else harmed in this attack but British police will be beefing up their guard of the London Underground here on out due to this attack.
