For a brief moment last night, it was 2001 again for Kevin Garnett.
The Timberwolves power forward, and his second stint in Minnesota, where he became an all-time talent in the early 2000’s, ran the floor after point guard Ricky Rubio stole the ball, waited for his window, received a pass from Rubio, and proceeded to throw it down all over Blake Griffin, who has built a reputation in the NBA for doing that exact same thing to pretty much everyone else.
It was a fitting role reversal, especially considering the man with which Garnett won his first NBA title, Paul Pierce, was on the opposing bench watching his friend and former teammate do what he does best, and he couldn’t help but react (top left corner of Vine clip).
Then again, we don’t know whose reaction was better, Pierce’s or Karl-Anthony Towns’.
