The hotly anticipated sequel to NBA all star Kyrie Irving and Nike basketballs collaborative footwear product has been unveiled.  Titled the Nike Kyrie 2, the performance shoe caters specifically to the athletes unique abilities and movements on the court providing the ability to stop on a dime and offering responsiveness to Irving’s swift cutting motions.

Despite the Cavaliers player being absent for a large part of the finals last year and the regular season this year,  designer Leo Chang crafted a sneaker that evoked Kyrie’s passionate athletic ability and persona. The ability to withstand a large amount of centrifugal force and pressure was integral to the design process as the sneakers signature athlete has been known to utilize an almost physics defying crossover on opponents.  According to ESPN Sport Science’s John Brenkus,  Irving pushes off the wood floor with 770 pounds of force at a 40 degree angle exercising movements that called for his kicks to include features such as an overly curved sole unit. Nicknamed the “Inferno”, our first look at the Kyrie 2 is dressed in a loud Bright Crimson/Atomic Orange-Black makeup.  Additionally,  the shoe silhouette is available for customization beginning today on Nike ID.

An alternate hue and the first official color of the Kyrie to be released will be titled the “Effect”.  This multicolored pair is set to hit stores on December 15.  To ring in the new year, Nike will drop the pink “Inferno” color option on January 1 with both versions of the sneaker to be made available via Nike online and retail locations.
