A new IOS game app could come in handy by its ability to turn the new iPhone 6 into a makeshift scale (if you ever find yourself needing that sort of thing).

Although Apple has made great attempts to not allow apps in their store specifically for weighing purposes, with the 3D touch technology built in the new iPhone 6 display it was only a matter of time before a loophole was discovered.

That loophole happens to be in the new game Steady Square developed by Asaf Avidan Antonir. Described as similar to Flappy Bird, the game mimics the theme, however instead of tapping your finger to evoke responses you change how hard you press the screen.

The actual game however is irrelevant if you simply want to weigh things, because what you’re looking for is secretly hidden in training mode. Now before you get too excited, know that there is going to be some math—okay, a lot of math involved.

According to 9to5Mac:

In an effort to get around Apple’s blocking of scale apps, Antonir has employed a 0-1,000 force number system as opposed to displaying actual grams. If you’re weighing very light things, you’ll need to place a spoon on the display first to see how much it weighs. After placing the spoon on the display, remember its force number. Now place whatever you actually want to weigh on the spoon. You should see a number between 0 and 1,000 appear. Subtract the spoon’s force number from the force number displayed with your goods placed on the spoon, then divide that number by 1,000 to get the force ratio. Then, multiply it by 385, which is the maximum number of grams that can be recorded by 3D Touch.

The loophole is admittedly complicated yes, yet possible and even better, it’s free. Maybe you can at least finally put those many years of math class to use.
