Salutations are in order for Russell Westbrook. Thanks to Russ and his wife, future UCLA recruits will be practicing on a new court in the near future and the building process is underway. The university has announced that they will name a court at the Mo Ostin center after Russell Westbrook.
According to UCLA, Westbrook made the largest donation ever recorded by an alumni of the program in history. Russ will be honored on Jan. 7th when the the Bruins take on the Arizona Wildcats.
According to Athletic Director Dan Guerreo:
“Russell himself is an inspiration.””We could not be more proud of his leadership both on and off the court since he left Westwood, and I know the Bruin faithful will be excited to welcome him back home next month and thank him for this tremendous gift.”
After giving the donation, Russ stated:
“I loved my time at UCLA and jumped at the opportunity to give back to the University that provided me with amazing opportunities and great memories,” said Westbrook. “I am truly honored to be part of the legacy that is Bruin basketball.”
Now there isn’t a specific amount of money specified, but UCLA added that there is more than $17 million in private funds being raised for both the men’s and women’s basketball practice facilities. Good to see Westbrook and Michigan State Spartan Draymond Green giving back, hopefully more will follow suit.
