Now, candidate Ben Carson has joined Trump in the assurance of his own departure from the Republican Party, moving forward.

The strategy in question is the proposal of a brokered convention, allowing party leaders to select the Republican nominee other than the one selected by voters.

“If this was the beginning of a plan to subvert the will of the voters and replace it with the will of the political elite, I assure you Donald Trump will not be the only one leaving the party,” Carson stated.

The recent popularity of Trump in the polls highlights an increase in the anti-establishment mentality of voters, and the departure of both Carson and Trump undoubtedly runs the risk of the GOP losing these voters.

On Sunday [December 13], Mr. Carson doubled down on his plan to leave in an interview on ABC’s This Week.

“One of the reasons that I got into this is because I heard the frustration in people who are so tired of backroom deals…If that is the case, then, you know, I’m out of here.”

Despite this, Carson’s threat doesn’t seem to hold as much potency as Trump’s in the end. While Trump could easily finance another campaign with a third party, Ben Carson, a former neurosurgeon, would have trouble in doing the same.

As far as taking any actions in the coming times, the retiree had this to say: “You know, the jury is out…We’ll certainly be keeping a close eye on things.”

While his political values seem to take precedence, any sign of a real exit from Ben Carson any time soon is blurry at most.
