Dustin Diamond, the actor who played the school nerd “Screech” on the long-running sitcom Saved By The Bell, will begin his four month jail stint for an altercation at a Port Washington, Wisconsin bar where a man was stabbed.
Diamond was arrested and charged with possession of a concealed weapon and disorderly conduct after the judge cleared him of any felonies. He was scheduled to begin his sentence this past summer, but the judge granted him a stay pending his appeal.
Diamond testified he was trying to protect his girlfriend when he pulled out a pocketknife at the Port Washington bar last Christmas Day.
Diamond appeared in Ozaukee County court Wednesday to withdraw his appeal on the disorderly conduct charge.
The Saved By The Bell star begins his sentence on January 15.
