Josh Gordon was a budding superstar receiver for the Cleveland Browns. In 2013 Gordon’s second year in the NFL consisted of 1,646 yards and 9 touchdowns, not bad for a sophomore year. Despite the undeniable talent of Gordon, substance abuse seemed to be a reoccurring theme in this young receiver’s career. His 2014 season was cut short because he was caught driving while impaired during the offseason. To add insult to injury Josh Gordon’s highly anticipated return in 2015 didn’t happen because he violated the NFL substance abuse policy once more. Most young players would be distraught and even fewer would recover from such a negative track record. However, the Cleveland Browns receiver viewed the suspension as a wake up call.

“I was kind of relieved. I’ve been riving and running too much too fast. I needed to slow down and I’m glad somebody gave me a swift kick in the a**” – Josh Gordon

While most people would try to rehabilitate by soul searching, Josh Gordon found his footing through creating artistic images. Art served as a therapeutic release from the fast pace lifestyle he was living. His artwork was showcased at the Smile Design Gallery in Miami where he met other artists and musicians including A$AP Rocky, A$AP Ferg and Alicia Keys. Not only is Gordon exercising his creativeness he is also developing and maturing as an individual. To be productive and optimistic during the negative after taste of a suspension is truly remarkable. The young receiver’s growth show on the field and off. Josh Gordon is a testament to redemption and we hope to see him play next season.
