We spoke exclusively with the 19-year-old Atlanta native about her journey to the top while maintaining her humility and passion for the arts. Here’s an exclusive digital snippet that didn’t make the print feature.

How’s life changed for you since joining Fifth Harmony?
“I’m stronger than I’ve ever given myself credit for. I constantly get hit with multiple situations at once. I have to accept the reality of every situation and proceed. I’ve been introduced to so many different types of people from many walks of life. I’m generally very shy, but being in the limelight has most definitely forced me to step outside of my comfort zone and be more vocal. I also get to experience much more than I would have ever been able to before. I love being able to travel while doing what I adore. I’ve come such a long way and my family has stood by my side the whole way and will continue to do so. I’m proud of where I stand in life and can’t wait to continue this journey and see what else God may have in store.”

You’re an amazing dancer. Where does your love for dance come from?
“I began dancing at the age of three. I remember begging my parents to put me in ballet, because I wanted a pink ballerina tutu. I was fascinated by dance and what it brought out of me. When I’m dancing I find peace and serenity. This is a way for me to escape and feel free through movement. For me it can be therapeutic. I wouldn’t be myself without it.”

After being discovered on X Factor, would you do another TV show?
“I’m definitely into television, but it truly depends on how I’d be portrayed. It must be done in a positive light. I love fashion so anything in reference to that would be amazing, and I would really like to crossover into the acting world.”

Are there any artists you’d love to work with?
John Legend, Adele, Sam Smith, The Weekend, Drake, Jhene Aiko, Kehlani, Lorde, Nicki Minaj, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, Big Sean, Kendrick Lamar, Missy Elliott, Childish Gambino and Justin Bieber. The list is endless! I can see myself on the big screen too, next to Taraji P. Henson, Angela Bassett, Angelina Jolie, Kerry Washington, Denzel Washington, Will Smith and Idris Elba. The lineup can go on and on.”
