Beyoncé and JAY Z have won the lawsuit against them concerning their usage of Hungarian singer Mitsou’s voice without her consent.

The lawsuit was brought against the duo after Mitsou recognized her voice being the (wildly memorable) 13 second introduction to Beyoncé’s “Drunk In Love” song. The suit claims Bey never asked nor received permission from the singer to use her vocals/sample for the project.

Wanting her share of the success from the song, Mitsou says her voice was also used for promotional purposes for the ads promoting Bey’s HBO special.

Even though there’s no denying the similarity, Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Cynthia Kern threw out Mitsou’s claim. Mitsou filed the lawsuit under the Civil Rights Law, which Kern says only applies “name, portrait, picture, or voice for advertising or trade purposes without written consent.”
