In a simple mistake, Harvey prematurely read aloud that Miss Columbia was the winner of Miss Universe when in fact, the winner was Miss Philippines, Pia Alonzo, and Miss Columbia actually won First Runner Up. As you can imagine, Miss Columbia was devastated and outraged by this blunder. On the other side of the spectrum, however, Miss Philippines was brought to tears of joy by the surprise. No word has come yet of whether or not this will effect Steve Harvey professionally, but with a career as successful as his, there is a strong possibility that this one lapse that will be chalked up to nerves and Mr. Hightower will go on hosting Family Feud and telling jokes for many years to come, his future as a major event host however may be on ice.
