R. Kelly just released his 13th studio album, The Buffet, and to promote it, he hit the set of HuffPost Live and sat with their host, Caroline Modarressy-Tehrani, to answer fan-submitted questions about his music, personal life, lyrics and more.
If you’ve never been uncomfortable watching an interview, this will certainly do the trick. Tehrani and Kelly began their interview pleasantly, but that all took a turn quickly downhill when she began to subject Kelly to questions about the sexual assault allegations that clutter his long, successful career, and whether or not he feels like his lyrics have become harder to consume given those allegations.
Kelly and Tehrani began bickering, and eventually Kelly began asking her whether or not she gets sloppy drunk in an attempt to make the point that his line of questioning was negative, and had nothing to do with her line of work. Shortly after that, the interview was over, because the Chicago native got up, took his microphone off, and left (not before awkwardly telling Tehrani she was beautiful, which she didn’t appear to like very much).
The awkwardness begins at about the 7:00 mark and continues all the way to the end. Have at it above.
