What do ladies love and what do men want? Full and bushy beards, of course. Pair this lusted after item with a rapper’s exciting and timely charity initiative and you’ve struck Hip Hop gold.
Emerging rapper Modo today [Tuesday, December 22] unveils vibrant new visuals for his single, “Beard Gang.” The Long Island, NY native enlisted pals Femi Lawson and Vine star TravQue and took to the streets, showing off their fresh shape ups from a local barber shop. Loaded with brassy synths and a booming bass, Modo raps and encourages the “bearded nation” to keep it bristly.
“I wanted to release the song during ‘No Shave November,’ but I didn’t want to have a cancer fundraiser that only lasted one month,” says Modo of his earnest intentions. “I also didn’t want growing our beards to be only during November, so I started Beard Gang Vs Cancer. I chose St. Jude’s [as a charity] because although every type of cancer is horrible, it’s always hard to see very young children who haven’t gotten a chance to live yet, have to battle cancer.”
All “Beard Gang” proceeds go to St. Jude Children’s Hospital and are part of Modo’s #BeardGangVsCancer campaign. The Beard Gang team are raising funds through new projects as well as merchandise in the new year, including a special mixtape in time for All-Star Weekend. You can donate by clicking here.
