The Philadelphia 76ers have become the punchline of the NBA because of their recent failures in the past few seasons and their dismal 1-29 record to start this season. Their number one draft pick last year, Joel Embiid, hasn’t played a single minute in his career while he still rehabs a foot injury and questions about his work ethic and 50-pound weight gains plagues his reputation. But for Embiid at least, there is light at the end of the tunnel according to his head coach Brett Brown. Brown made comments about Embiid’s improved mental state and why it’s not a reason to worry any longer in a story from the 76ers web page on NBA.com.

“Brown has observed a key area of growth in Embiid, saying “Mentally, leaps and bounds.  Let’s just start there.  I just know that what I see, just a committed, hopeful athlete.  He sees that he’s doing the right thing.  He feels like he’s doing the right thing.  He is doing the right things.  And so, I just see somebody that’s got that edge where he wants to get going again.  I think mentally, it’s night and day from talking to him at this time December of last year.”
