If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. Fed up with the conceit of a woman from the upper crust, Amir Obè serves up some some difficult-to-swallow humble pie on “Kill Your Pride,” a surprise bonus track from his recent EP Happening in the Grey Area. Completely full of herself rather than the milk of human kindness – having been born with a silver spoon in her mouth – the Detroit native considers his former love interest to be a tough cookie to crack.
“I lost patience in a waitress / She been living too complacent,” croons Amir in regards to the boastful server’s unhealthy mindset that her life is just a bowl of cherries, attempting to offer a piece of his mind as food for thought. Once the potential apple of his eye, her narcissistic belief that she’s the cream of the crop and he’s merely a small fry practically causes the OVO affiliate to go bananas, as he trims the fat that is her ego by chewing it up and spitting it out.
