With the hard times the Philadelphia 76ers have been through not only this season but the past four years, sometimes it’s hard not to wonder if there are any bright days ahead for them.  Their first round pick, Jahlil Okafor, basketball wise is off to a stellar beginning for his NBA career; averaging 17 points and just under eight rebounds a game. Off the court, however, hasn’t been as smooth. To make matters worse, there are now reports that Okafor and his camp initially weren’t too high on him getting drafted by the 76ers.

Sources say that Okafor’s camp wasn’t in favor of him playing for the Sixers during the draft process. And there’s conflicting stories about D’Angelo Russell. Some say that he welcomed the idea of playing in Philadelphia, at least initially in the draft process. Others say he wasn’t in favor.

This isn’t to excuse his line of thinking; that’s if the report is true, but it is tough knowing you are going to a team who probably won’t succeed in atleast another three years, roughly estimating. But, that’s the reality of professional sports. You could possibly go to the team you want or vice versa. The 76ers are investing a lot in him and expect his skill set to take them to higher heights. Unfortunately, that’s just the expectation for NBA Lottery picks. For Okafor, one thing he and the 76ers have going for themselves is they are in the Eastern Conference, which will make their road just a tad but easier. But nonetheless, Okafor and his compadres face a uphill battle. Currently, the 76ers sit at 3-33.
