Michael Jackson’s first magnum opus and perhaps one of the best pound for pound pure R&B albums of all time, Off The Wall, gets the reissue treatment. Unlike the 2001 reissue, this release will be accompanied by a Spike Lee documentary titled “Michael Jackson’s Journey from Motown to ‘Off The Wall’” which comes out February 26th of this year.
The film is preparing to make its world premiere January 24 at the Sundance Film Festival. Next it will air on Showtime Febuary 5th at 9 PM Eastern/Pacific time.
This isn’t the first time Lee has worked with Jackson, in which he directed and co-produced the documentary Bad 25, which accompanied the reissue of his 1987 Bad album on its 25th anniversary. Lee also directed the video for Jackson’s 2009 posthumous hit song “This is It”.
Off The Wall as of 2016, has sold over 30 million records worldwide.
