NBC has ordered a new comedy pilot starring Marlon Wayans, titled “Marlon,” which is inspired by the actor/comedian’s life. The series will follow the escapades of an “inappropriate but loving father who is committed to successful co-parenting with his polar opposite ex-wife,” as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

Chris Moynihan will pen the script and executive produce alongside Rick Alvarez and Michael Rotenberg. Universal Television, 3 Arts and Wayans Brothers Entertainment will produce.

As a writer, actor, creator and producer, Wayans has an extensive resume including the hit films “A Haunted House,” “White Chicks,” the “Scary Movie” franchise, and roles in “Requiem For A Dream” and “The Heat.” On the small screen, he created and starred in the long-running sitcom “The Wayans Bros.” and the TBS series “Funniest Wins” and was a cast member on the groundbreaking TV series “In Living Color.” He is currently performing his own stand-up shows to sold-out audiences across the country.

Wayans will next be seen on the big screen in “Fifty Shades of Black.”
