Taraji P. Henson won the Golden Globe Award for ‘Best Performance By An Actress In A Television Series – Drama’ for her role on Empire. It was her first Golden Globe nomination and first win.
“Cookies for everyone tonight!” said Henson during her acceptance speech. “My treat!”
Henson stars as Cookie Lyon, the ex-wife of a Hip Hop mogul who must choose between his three sons who are battling for control over his multi-million dollar company, while Cookie schemes to get what’s hers.
Time Magazine named Cookie Lyon its ‘Most Influential Fictional Character of 2015’, and USA Today named Henson ‘Entertainer of the Year.’ Additionally, Henson received Emmy, Teen Choice and Television Critics Association nominations.
The 73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards aired last night [January 10, 2016] on NBC.
