The Today Show weatherman Al Roker took to Twitter last year when he and his 13 year old sone were passed up by a taxi in NYC, only for the racist cab driver to pick up a white passenger a black away. Roker followed up on the snub and filed a complaint with the Taxi and Limousine Commission.

Yesterday, NYC’s T&LC gave the driver Mahabur Rahman two options; pay a $500 fine or have his license suspended for 30 days. Roker went on to tweet that he was even more hurt by the fact that had to explain to his son why the cabbie passed them by.

“This happens to people of color every day and while most cabbies do their job, there are those ignorant racist ones who hurt the others.”

This is his second complaint Rahman has faced in the last year. He was forced to pay a $200 fine for refusing to pick up someone in May.
