It was recently announced that filmmaker Spike Lee would be at the helm of an upcoming documentary, Michael Jackson’s Journey From Motown To Off The Wall. Premiering on Showtime, the piece will document Jackson’s rise from being a child star to a solo superstar. This marks the second time that Lee has been behind an MJ doc, as he previously directed Bad 25, delving into the late singer’s 1987 album Bad, which aired on Thanksgiving 2012.

For the doc, Spike Lee tapped Pharrell, Kobe Bryant, Questlove, L.A. Reid, The Weeknd, Mark Ronson and more to give their thoughts on MJ’s Off The Wall years. Today, the first official trailer for the project has been released to the public and finds The Weeknd sharing how Jackson inspired him musically, “I found my falsetto because of Off The Wall.
