It was predicted in mid 2015 that 2016 would be a good year for gas, but no one expected it to drop as low as it has in some areas of the country.
Houghton Lake, Michigan, for example, boasts one of the lowest average ticket prices in the US right now, with gas averaging well under one dollar.
Gasbuddy.com reports that in Houghton Lake, local gas station Beacon & Bridge Market have prices of $0.53 with the local Marathon and Citgo both at $0.95.

The lines are so long outside these three gas stations that police have begun directing traffic in the area of U.S. 127 and M-55. These prices make Michigan the first state to go below one dollar since 1999. Hopefully this trend will go “viral” and we will see plummeting gas prices nationwide.
