New York Knicks fans were apprehensive when team president Phil Jackson drafted Kristaps Porzingis in last year’s NBA draft. Picked 4th overall, most of the tension surrounding the 7 footer from Latvia was the lack of information on him prior to the selection, as well as this being one of the highest draft picks the franchise has had in quite some time. Eventually, all of the nervousness turned into excitement, as the Porzingis has been a success so far in the league and is making a strong case for Rookie of the Year.
Knicks superstar forward Carmelo Anthony was one of the people that the newcomer wanted to win over upon joining the team. During offseason workouts, the duo hit the court Melo was impressed by his play on the court, but Porzingis won him over even more after he shared a story and photo of himself as a youngster sporting some cornrows.
Kris taps shared that he wore the hairstyle after he was inspired by Allen Iverson and Carmelo Anthony.
