Wiz Khalifa and Kanye West engaged in a pretty serious war of words on Twitter yesterday, stemming from Khalifa’s criticism of the new title of ‘Ye’s album, WAVES, previously titled SWISH (previously titled So Help Me God). Once West announced the new title–an announcement that came just a fortnight before the release of the album on February 11–social media collectively joined in frenzied conversation about West possibly borrowing a signature phrase from one of Hip Hop’s most beloved characters, the currently incarcerated Max B, known best for being one of the originators of dropping free music relentlessly to the internet, heavily inspiring Jim Jones‘ and French Montana‘s sonic palettes and cadences, and–above all–popularizing the term “wavy.”

Khalifa, who was perceivably inspired by Max B in his own right, defended the Harlemite in a series of tweets, claiming that he was the originator of “waves,” pleading with others to not “take the wave from him.”

Kanye, who’s been uncharacteristically active on Twitter in recent weeks, responded to Wiz with a flurry of shots, including claims that Amber Rose trapped him. Wiz brushed off ‘Ye’s comments by confirming that “KK”–a phrase Wiz used on his timeline–stands for a strand of weed, and not Kim Kardashian, which is likely what prompted Kanye to address Wiz in the first place.

Well it appears that Wiz was saving his clapback for the live stage. Last night, in the Pittsburgh native’s first show in Argentina, he screamed “F*ck Kanye!” in the middle of his high-energy performance of “Taylor Gang,” his widely popular Rolling Papers single. You can watch video of that above.

Wiz’s own new album, Khalifa, also drops next month on February 5.
