Sad news in the music world today as it has been reported that Maurice White, co-founder of the legendary Earth, Wind & Fire, passed away in his sleep this morning (February 4). White had long been suffering with Parkinson’s and died in Los Angeles at the age of 74. He was diagnosed with the disease in 1992 but his condition worked in recent months. Things had gotten so bad that he was unable to tour with the band all the way back in 1994.

Earth, Wind & Fire was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2000 and White was individually inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame a decade later in 2010. Although he was no touring with the band, he was heavily involved in the decision making in the group’s business affairs.

Very said news. Rest In Peace.
