Yo Gotti posted a short snippet of his “Down In The DM” remix featuring Nicki Minaj to his Instagram page early yesterday [February 3rd]. Adding her own provocative twist, Minaj let fans know how it really goes down with a lyric video in the form of her own animated DM’s. Yo Gotti is set to release his album The Art of Hustle February 19 and the full remix with Minaj tomorrow.
The collaboration that nobody saw coming may not be as much of a surprise to true Gotti fans. Minaj, who collaborated with Gotti back in 2009, was a surprise guest at his annual ‘Birthday Bash’ last year. The event brought out greats like The Breakfast Club, Meek Mill, Lil Boosie, Shy Glizzy, and more. The pair’s last collaboration—the “5 Star Chick remix—became a mega hit. With that track record the pair could possibly warrant the same success as the “Down In The DM” remix. .
With lyrics like “I said Miley, wus good/ I said could you pay my bills like O’Reilly, wuss good?,” Nicki Minaj is in true form. The singer touched on internet thirst and how she just “sits back and observes. All these ni**as that I done curved.” However it wouldn’t be Minaj if she didn’t boast a little about her sex appeal: “If it goes down in your DM then baby boy you lucky/ Cause 99.9 percent of these fu*k boys can’t fu*k me.”
“Down In The DM,” the song that encouraged people all over the U.S. to “shoot their shot” in hopes of getting the attention of their social media boo, is finally adding a woman’s perceptive. Gotti speaks on the art of hustle not only through his actions, but in his music. With Nicki Minaj set to make the hit that much more interesting with her own take on DM romance, fans can be sure they’re in for a treat.
