Longtime civil rights advocate and entertainment industry giant Harry Belafonte has officially endorsed Bernie Sanders in this year’s presidential race.

Sanders has enjoyed quite possibly the best and most focused week of his campaign over the last four days, decisively defeating Hillary Clinton in the New Hampshire primaries, and sitting down with Rev. Al Sharpton in Harlem, New York City in an effort to boost his support among minority voters. In the above video clip, which serves as Belafonte’s official endorsement announcement, he details why he’s chosen to go with the Vermont senator over other candidates.

I would suggest to those of you who have not yet made up your minds, or maybe even some of you who have made up your minds, to maybe consider and reconsider what it is that Bernie Sanders offers. He offers us a chance to declare unequivocally that there is a group of citizens who have a deep caring for where our nation goes and what it does in the process of going.

It will be interesting to see how Belafonte’s ringing endorsement affects the race for the Democratic ticket, which was previously thought to be Hillary’s to lose. This latest swing in momentum could have an everlasting impact on what happens in November.
