One of the largest marijuana busts in recent memory was made near the small town of Ambrose, Georgia, about 150 miles west of Savannah.

Coffee County Sheriff Doyle Wooten said the Douglas-Coffee Drug Unit (DCDU) and the GBI Southeastern Regional Drug Enforcement Office (SRDEO) conducted a joint operation Friday, which was the apex of weeks of observation, planning and investigation.

During the search of two houses, approximately 325 pounds of processed marijuana and a marijuana manufacturing operation were discovered.

George Darryl Harper, 59, was arrested and charged with trafficking and manufacturing marijuana.
