On Thursday, February 18, 2016, the City of Elizabeth added an honorary street sign to recognze the Legendary DJ Cutmaster Cool V.
Most widely known as the music producer and DJ for Biz Markie for over three decades, Cutmaster Cool V has brought unmatched talent and work ethic to the music industry. Born in Elizabeth, NJ, he’s touched numerous gold and platinum records via an array of artists including Big Daddy Kane, Kid Capri, and production credits for the Oprah Winfrey Show. Most notably, DJ Cool V produced the multi-platinum song, “Just A Friend” with Biz Markie.
The commemoration was held at the corner of Magnolia Avenue and Front Street where Cool V made his bones as a young DJ. Attendees included Elizabeth Mayor J. Christian Bollwage, Biz Markie, Roxanne Shante, DJ Cheese and many more.
