Cam Newton continues to be a heavy topic in the sports world. Embroiled in growing controversy throughout his entire season, he went on to win the NFL MVP award and lead the Carolina Panthers to the Super Bowl for his first time.

With his natural gift for the sport and athletic talents never called into question, Newton (sadly) received negative attention that often focused on him being a groundbreaking Black quarterback. This past Saturday, Jets beat writer Kimberly Martin shared a letter she recently received from a reader containing hateful, racist language about Cam Newton and Black people in general.

In the letter Martin shared to Twitter, slurs are presented heavy with horrible stereotypes and even Michael Jackson was bought up and compared wrongfully.
