The biggest talk of the NBA this week was the Brooklyn Nets buying out Joe Johnson’s contract, effectively making him a free agent able to sign with any team he chooses. Of course, many fans and pundits assumed that joining LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers would be first on his list. In actuality, the teams with the biggest chances were the Cavs, the Atlanta Hawks, his former team, and the Miami Heat.

Though Johnson officially clears waivers Saturday at 5 p.m. ET, ESPN’s Marc Stein is reporting that the 34-year-old swingman has his sights set on south beach. We will all find out Saturday evening where his destination will be, but the other contending teams have not fully given up hope of acquiring Johnson.
