San Jose, CA high school student and former wrestler Blake Flovin is making the news this week after he apparently contracted the herpes virus from a mat during one of his matches. After breaking out with lesions on his face, he was later diagnosed with herpes galdiatorum, which is caused by the virus. Flovin is now fighting to have the state of California cancel a big wrestling tournament that is scheduled for this weekend in order to prevent others from contracting the virus from the mats being used. Despite his efforts, the High School wrestling tournament will be going on as scheduled but doctors will be on hand to evaluate the mats used and the wrestlers.
