Shortly after the release of last year’s To Pimp A Butterfly, Kendrick Lamar‘s buzz snowballed into a landscape-altering momentum that no one can stop. Not that anyone’s tried. After “Control,” everyone appears to know better.

In the last year, Kendrick has released two retail projects, both of them Billboard 200 #1 debuts (TPAB topped the charts last March, and his surprise opus, untitled unmastered., will do the same when the charts are revealed next week). He’s soundtracked activist movements and delivered heavy, emotional performances on late-night network television shows, notched Billboard Hot 100 chart-toppers with Taylor Swift and more. There isn’t much the guy can’t do right now, which makes this news even more exciting.

During a recent interview with BBC, Metro Boomin revealed that he recently spent a day in the studio with Kendrick Lamar, and the Compton emcee picked out a “bunch of beats” without specifying his plans for them. Metro also revealed that he and Big Sean have been working on new music for Sean’s forthcoming album in the brief audio clip from the interview, which you can listen to here.

On untitled unmastered, Kendrick collaborated with Nard & B and Cardo, a couple producers known for their work with Southern artists like Future, Jeezy and Curren$y, so it’s pretty evident that K. Dot isn’t restricted to just working with his in-house TDE beatsmiths.
