The NBA season is over in April, lucky for the Pelicans. They hold a record of 24-43 and their star player Anthony Davis has just revealed he will sit out for the remainder of the season due to knee and shoulder injuries that have occurred throughout the season. Coach Alvin Gentry noted he made the decision to sit out Anthony to stop any further aggravation with his body. He also announced that Davis will undergo surgery, two to be exact.
“You know good and well that he loves playing and wants to be good,” Gentry said. “He feels a huge obligation to try to make this team better, try to get him back to where they were last year — making the playoffs and stuff like that.”
So the remainder of the season for the Pelicans just got a bit more tougher without their star player, but luckily only a few games are left in the regular season. The Pelicans have had a huge issue with injuries throughout this season, which is why they hold a poor record and it continues leading up to the final game of the season. Hopefully, Davis will come back stronger and better for next season, he had quite a spectacular MVP type year.
