Although Harlem rapper A$AP Ferg came up alongside A$AP Rocky and the A$AP Mob, which often thrives off its obsession with Houston rap’s chopped and screwed elements, he’s proved before that he has no problem hopping on a traditional boom-bap instrumental and getting loose. During a recent visit with J. Cruz and Power 106’s The Cruz Show, Ferg proved it again, letting a slick freestyle rip over The Wu-Tang Clan‘s “Triumph” beat, among other instrumentals, for no less than 3 minutes. From comparing Madonna to Rihanna, to a slick one-liner about doing a deal with adidas but wanting checks, the above video clip is a brief reminder of why Ferg should be on everyone’s radar when it comes to dope emcees.

Of course, this is all in promotion of his newly announced Always Strive And Prosper album, which now has an official release date and cover art. To boot, yesterday, Ferg unveiled a snippet of a yet-to-be-released ScHoolboy Q-featured cut, “Let It Blow,” on his Instagram, and you can check that out here.
