Tracy Morgan Says He Contemplated Suicide After 2014 Traffic Accident

Following the tragic 2014 traffic accident that left him with severe injuries and in a coma for eight days, comedian Tracy Morgan had a long uphill battle to recovery. Thankfully, he was able to regain his health and get back to doing what loves best, making people laugh. In a new interview with Rolling Stone, the comedy revealed that he struggled emotionally as well as physically during his recovery process, speaking on dealing with the death of his friend and fellow comedian James “Jimmy Mack” McNair.

Emotionally, it’s hard for me to deal with. I asked everybody to be there that night. I have to live with that. But I had to forgive myself. I know Jimmy would want it like that. I was in a very dark place. I was sitting right here, contemplating suicide.

Tracy is currently on his first stand-up tour since the accident, but now has more passion than ever for life and his work. Especially considering he will be playing the role of comedy legend Redd Foxx in the upcoming Richard Pryor biopic.

Maybe when I was in heaven, Richard Pryor said something to me. I feel funnier than I ever felt. I look forward to my daughter going to nursery school. I’m here. I get to see all of that. Mr. Foxx, I hope I do you justice. Mr. Foxx, I hope I do you justice. It will be an honor to portray an icon.
