In the wake of the tragic 2014 car accident he was involved in, Tracy Morgan admits he battled serious suicidal thoughts. The wreck took his friends lives and almost his own.
After waking up from the coma the crash left him in, Tracy had plenty of difficult emotions to deal with, on top of the physical pain. But Tracy attributes his ability to cope to a particular theme song: Taxi.
Tracy admits he was “in a very dark place” and had an especially difficult time dealing with the thought he would never be funny again. When he was sitting home, unable to walk, the worst of his thoughts got to him.
Even though he, thankfully, does not remember the accident, he still suffers from survivor’s guilt. But when the road got hard during Morgan’s recovery, “Taxi” was there to pull him through: “I remember them days. Jesus.”
