On Thursday [March 24], Deadline revealed the legendary Sir Paul McCartney is joining the cast of the latest Pirates Of The Caribbean installment, Dead Men Tell No Tales.
Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom are reprising their roles as Captain Jack Sparrow and Will Turner, respectively. Javier Bardem will play one of the villains in the film.
Directors Joachim Ronning, Espen Sandberg and producer Jerry Bruckheimer decided to add an extra big set-piece scene featuring McCartney. There may even be a musical performance during this scene. Sir Paul isn’t the only iconic rocker associated with the franchise. Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards played Jack’s father Captain Teague in 2011’s On Stranger Tides.
McCartney’s most famous films were his two Beatles movies: 1964’s A Hard day’s Night and 1965’s Help! Last year, he famously collaborated with Kanye West on “Only One” and “45 Seconds.” Brenton Thwaites and Kaya Scodelario play new characters.
The film will be released on May 26, 2017.
