Mick Jenkins has released a project every year since 2012, and his seen his popularity skyrocket thanks to 2014’s The Water[s], and 2015’s The Wave[s], an album and an EP that show off Mick’s dexterity in abundance, as he seamlessly shifts between hardcore bar technician, goofball love interest and several other personas he executes well.
On the horizon is The Healing Component, Jenkins’ forthcoming proper debut album, which will undoubtedly mesh the aforementioned styles (and more) together. Today we get a taste of that, with the Kaytranada-produced “The Artful Doctor.” Remember, Kaytranada recently worked with Mick on “Your Love” and “P’s & Q’s,” arguably the most popular songs on The Wave[s], so expect their pre-existing chemistry to shine through on this one.
