In conjunction with Mass Appeal Records, the Estate of James Yancey has revived J Dilla’s longstanding company PayJay as a functioning imprint to release Dilla’s long lost vocal album, The Diary. In anticipation of the April 15th release, Mass Appeal has filmed a series of short videos featuring some of the artists who appear on the album.

Producer Bink (most known for his work with Roc-A-Fella artists) and rapper/producer Nottz (who has worked with Busta Rhymes, Snoop Dogg and Kanye West) star in the second video in the series.

Initially intended for a 2002 release, The Diary is the last collection of unissued material Dilla had assembled during his short life span. Featuring vocal performances by Dilla, Snoop Dogg, Bilal, Kokane, Frank and Dank, Nottz and Boogie, with production by Dilla, Madlib, Pete Rock, Hi-tek, Nottz, House Shoes, Supa Dave West, Bink and Karriem Riggins, The Diary wets the palate of any longtime fan who has been missing the genius of the late producer.
