The music streaming wars between Spotify, Apple Music and TIDAL have been an ongoing battle for the past 18 months, with each company vying for control over the streaming market. Today, it has been revealed that Apple has been awarded the patent on a technology that would allow them to automatically censor explicit words during streams. Apple filed to own the patent, which is named “Management, Replacement and Removal of Explicit Lyrics during Audio Playback,” back in September of 2014 but the news wasn’t made public until last week. Surely this will alter the listening experience for users.
