Bryce Harper, the reigning MVP of the National League, was heralded as one of the future greats of the game of baseball before he even stepped into the batter’s box for the first time. Those analysts were right, as Harper has done nothing but deliver since 2012, his first full year in the major leagues. During his MVP campaign last year, Harper was ridiculous, smacking 42 home runs and 99 RBIs, including an absurd .460 on-base percentage and a .649 slugging percentage.
It was only a matter of time before the still young Harper–he’s just 23-years-old–hit hit 100th home run, and he did so in yesterday’s game against the lowly Braves, who have yet to win a game this season. With his Nationals down 1-0 to Atlanta and the bases loaded, Harper hit the century long-ball mark in style with a mammoth home run to right field.
