Well this has escalated into something much bigger than it actually was, hasn’t it?
For those of you not quite sure how we got here, how about a refresher course.
- The Oklahoma City Thunder thrashed the Dallas Mavericks in Game 1 of their opening round playoff series, leading by 40 points at one time. Needless to say, OKC took a 1-0 series lead into Game 2.
- Prior to Game 2, during Russell Westbrook and Cameron Payne‘s traditional pre-game dance routine, Mavs forwards Charlie Villanueva and Justin Anderson deliberately walked through the proceedings, prompting Westbrook to shove them both out of the way.
- The Mavericks beat the Thunder after Steven Adams‘ game-winning tip-in was waved off, knotting up the series at 1-1.
- After the game, Durant called Villanueva’s pre-game stunt “fake sh*t,” while Westbrook referred to it as something “for the guys that don’t play.”
That’s how we arrived at today’s development, which is Charlie Villanueva recording a video of himself in his car sending a message to Russell Westbrook, explaining that he doesn’t care to see the dance routines, and that if Westbrook wants to continue his two-step, he should head over to Dance With the Stars.
If you want to go dancing, go to a nightclub. Go to a club and dance. Go to Dancing with the Stars and be a dancer. If you want to battle and dance, we can battle, but not in a basketball game. Plus, they were in my way, too. I wasn’t necessarily interrupting their dance.
Sure, Charlie. There was absolutely no way you could made your way around Westbrook and Payne. It looks like the pre-game check-ins for tomorrow night’s Game 2 just became just as much of a must-watch as the actual game.
