This week, news broke of OVO Sound’s ILOVEMAKONNEN parting ways with the famed label started by Drake.
Once speculated as a rumor, the claim was since confirmed by a rep from Warner Bros. that the Atlanta rapper would be leaving the OVO imprint and is now only signed with Warner Bros.
ILOVEMAKONNEN’s official statement is as follows,
“I cannot thank OVO, 40, Oliver, Future & Mr. Morgan, enough for all that they have done for my career. No words can express how much I appreciate Drake for being a part of the success of Tuesday. I’m sure the haters will have something negative to say, but all in all my choice to be solely on Warner Bros Records was the right thing for me and for my best interest. Sorry there’s no beef to report, DRINK MORE WATER.” ILOVEMAKONNEN
Makonnen’s Drink More Water 6 project released just last month as his final release with the OVO Sound label. He’s since released a collaboration track with Lil B, and is in preparation to embark on the “Red Dragon Based God” tour with the Based God himself.
