Chicago Cubs’ pitcher Jake Arrieta threw a no-hitter last night in the Cubs’ 16-0 blow out against the Cincinnati Reds.
The reigning Cy Young Award winner walked four and struck out six in the dominating performance, moving to 4-0 on the season. This was the second no-hitter of Arrieta’s career, with his first no-hitter coming against the Los Angeles Dodgers last season.
Arrieta’s no-hitter was the first of this MLB season, which started only a few weeks ago. This was the first time the Cincinnati Reds had been no-hit in the regular season since 1971, per ESPN.com.
The Chicago Cubs are off to a hot start this season, moving to 12-4 with this win. They are in first place in the NL Central, looking to have another great season after making it all the way to the NLCS last season.
