The Dallas Wings, who were originally the Tulsa Shock, begin preseason play on Sunday, May 1 at the University of Texas at Arlington, which will be considered their home court for the 2016 season.

It has been noted the relocation will not result in any changes in the roster. According to Wings president David Swatzell, “It only made sense. We’re the fourth largest metropolitan area in the United States, we’re the fifth largest media market, and the third largest concentration of Fortune 1,000 companies. It makes perfect sense.”

WNBA stars Skylar Diggins and Odyssey Sims, who is actually a native of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex have been very involved in the move and presenting the change to the sports world. Skylar will be making her debut in Dallas after returning from a torn ACL injury with the Shock in 2015. Sims is quite familiar with Texas style play as she’s a graduate of Irving-MacArthur High School and led Baylor University to four straight Big 12 Championship crowns.

In addition, the Dallas Wings is home for the 2015 WNBA All Star Plenette Pierson, who will assist in bringing an exciting sports experience to Dallas outside of the Cowboys, Rangers, and Mavericks. We wish them luck in the Lone Star State.
